The Details of the Question
My husband´s total zakat was calculated to be AED 500 but he paid AED 2000, that is he paid AED 1500 extra. My zakat is calculated as AED 2159, so is it possible that I claim the extra amount paid by my husband as part of my zakat and then pay the remaining now? Submitted by on Tue, 24/08/2010 - 21:53
The Answer
Dear Brother / Sister,
The answer is NO. If your husband had intended for you as well as for himself beforehand then it would have been accepted religiously. But now it is not possible.
