What does the Quran mention and with what topics does it deal?
- What are the principles that the Quran brings to life?
Dear Brother / Sister,
When we look at the Quran as a whole, we see that it has four main goals that permeate all its chapters and verses. Everything the Quran mentions is meant to reinforce those four goals.
The first one is the principle of tawhid, which means to believe in Allah, who has no partner, or equivalent in His essence, attributes, deeds, works and property.
The second one is prophethood, which refers to the institution of prophethood that conveys the commands of the Lord of the Realms to us.
The third one is hashr, which means being resurrected after death and attaining eternal life.
The fourth principle is justice. In the Quran, justice, which is necessary for people to live a peaceful life in the world, is commanded. It is aimed to put people’s lives in order within the framework of those principles. It is reported that the justice of Allah, the Lord of the Realms, encompasses the whole universe and will be fully manifested on the Day of Judgment and will reward and punish everyone for their good and evil.
There are many definitions of the Quran that include its messages. Those definitions also summarize its topics:
The Quran is a holy book revealed by Allah, sent down to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) through the angel Gabriel (Jibril), and its recitation is considered worship.
The Quran is an infallible book of guidance that engraves the unity (tawhid) of Allah in the hearts, presents the prophethood of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and the institution of the prophethood to people, engraves in the depths of the conscience the existence of the afterlife where people will be resurrected after death and will be held accountable, where they will be rewarded or punished according to the philosophy of life and worldview they adhered to in their previous lives, and teaches that worship in their relations with Allah and justice in their relations with their servants are the sine qua non conditions of servitude.
The Quran is a heavenly textbook whose first commandment is “Read”, which encourages reading, writing, knowledge and wisdom, which considers the use of the pen as a great gift of Allah, and which shows the glimmers of Allah’s infinite knowledge.
The Quran is the last book of truth from Allah, which spreads the truth over falsehood and shatters its brain, which comes from the Truth, which is based on the name of the Truth, which draws its power from the Truth, which teaches the truth and the reality, and which is the last true book of Allah.
The Quran is a divine Furqan that teaches this truth and reality is a stainless diamond, that removes the veil from the face of falsehood and shows its ugly face to those who have foresight, and that distinguishes between truth and falsehood.
The Quran is an infallible heavenly guide that begins with praising Allah, gives hope to its servants by emphasizing that the Lord of the universe is Merciful, Compassionate and the owner of the Day of the Religion / Reckoning, and teaches them to serve Allah alone, to seek help only from Him, and to follow the path of the prophets in order to walk on the straight path.
The Quran is an eternal translation of the book of the universe, of which the earth is a single page, and an eternal translator of the literal/cosmic verses contained in this tangible book, which expresses its purpose in various languages.
The Quran is an eternal interpretation of divine truths that explains and reveals the wise reflections of the beautiful names of Allah, who sees the visible and invisible beings alike, who bears the traces of an all-encompassing knowledge, who is present with the unseen, who is Allamul-ghuyub (the Knower of all that is unseen), and whose names are manifested in the heavens and the earth.
The Quran is a fascinating key that unlocks the doors of the hidden truths underlying the cosmic and sociological events that are constantly occurring throughout the universe, and a miraculous language that declares the truths behind the visible face of the visible realm.
The Quran is a treasure of celestial blessings that has come to us - as an eternal address and a compliment from Allah, the Most Gracious and Merciful, extending to eternity - following the route of that invisible / unseen world that lies behind the curtain of this visible realm.
The Quran is the sun, the foundation and the geometry of the spiritual personality of the Islamic world, the sacred map of the hereafter, a powerful explanation, a clarifying interpretation, a definitive proof, and a brilliant translator that makes explanations about Allah’s essence, names, attributes and deeds and that declares their perfection and sanctity.
The Quran is a teacher that educates and disciplines the human community; it is the water and light of the seeds of truth of Islam, the true and greatest humanity. It is a true guide of wisdom and guidance that shows people the path to happiness in this world and the hereafter.
The Quran is a book of shari’ah that lays down the moral and legal principles of social life, a book of prayer that teaches people how to pray to their Lord, a book of wisdom that teaches the wise instructions of religion, which is the life of life, a book of submission/servitude that specifies how to be a servant to Allah, and a book of call/invitation that contains Allah’s commands and recommendations.
The Quran is a book of dhikr and thought that commands us to mention Allah with the tongue, heart, and mind, that opens a window to His knowledge in everything, that establishes a spiritual elevator that leads to His presence, and that discovers as many paths as the number of the souls and breaths of the creatures to His sanctuary.
The Quran is a book that addresses all segments of humanity, teaches everyone according to their ability, profession and occupation, satisfies their mind, heart and emotions, responds to all spiritual needs, is free from defects, free from deficiencies, free from all kinds of wrongdoing, and is a heavenly book like a sacred library that contains many books.
The Quran is a holy book whose inside, outside and essence is full of light and a book that reflects the manifestations of the name Nur, illuminates the universe by explaining the Divine wisdom that shines above the heavens and the earth with its cosmological signs, illuminates the minds and hearts of people with the light of the sun of belief it teaches, illuminates the palaces of Paradise built on the other slope of the realm of the afterlife with the spiritual projector that it equips with subjective and objective evidences for those who are not spiritually blind.
The Quran is bright in all six aspects and free from the shadow of doubt. Falsehood and wrong have not been able to approach it from any direction because the Quran has a strong back/support; as a heavenly revelation, it is dependent on Allah. Its front is clear, protected by a strong armor because its goal is eternal bliss. The one who promises this bliss is Allah, the Almighty, who never stoops to break His promise. The messages it contains are clear guidance. The sun shining above it is belief. Beneath it are pillars of evidence and proof. Standing on its right side are the heart and conscience bowing to it. On its left are the intellect and reason. Its fruit is the infinite mercy of Allah and paradise.
The Quran is the word of Allah, the Lord of all realms. Therefore, it contains divine messages that educate everyone, young and old alike in proportion to their value.
It is also Allah’s decree as the God of all beings. Therefore, it is emphasized in this Divine Decree that Allah is the only deity, the only God worthy of worship, that human beings - like all other beings - were created to worship Allah, and that they are commanded to join this magnificent spiritual harmony of beings declaring that they glorify and praise Allah with their sounds throughout the universe
It is also a book sent in the name of the Creator of the whole skies and earth. Therefore, in the Quran, the marvelous works of art that appear in the skies and the earth are frequently presented to the mind’s eye, and a style that approaches the subjects with the attitude of a creator with infinite knowledge and power is used.
The Quran is a heavenly book of warning and glad tidings that gives strong glad tidings to the good people who obey Allah, and warns strongly the bad people who rebel against Him by reminding future generations of the reasons for past victories and defeats, acting upon the fact that history is a sociological fact that repeats itself, describing the events that took place in the scenes of history with a fascinating style, dealing with them using a wonderful method of depiction, showing people the victories achieved by the prophets and the believers who followed them - with the help of Allah - despite the fact that they were generally in a weak position in terms of material power and the defeats suffered by the unbelievers though they were very strong in terms of material power.
To sum up: The Quran is the unmistakable and reliable guide for those who want to be a servant of Allah and an ummah of the Prophet (pbuh).
Sociologically, the Quran is the only guide for those who want to have a peaceful individual, family and social life, to have a psychologically harmonious personality - free from dilemma - and to walk on the middle path called Sirat al-mustaqim, away from mischief-making extremes.
The Quran is the strongest fortress and the strongest refuge for those who want to be protected from the evil of nafs al-ammara (the evil-commanding soul) and Pharaohized nafs and from the insidious traps of the devil, and the sunnah of the Prophet (pbuh), who is the true interpretation of the Quran.
O Allah! Make the Quran - for us - a friend in this world, a companion in the grave, an intercessor on the Day of Judgment, a light on Sirat bridge, a companion on the way to Paradise, an armor protecting us from fire, and a guide and imam in all good deeds! Grant us this with Your infinite mercy! O our Lord, the most merciful of the merciful!
