Are there any incidents and events that are mentioned only in the Quran?

The Details of the Question

Are there any incidents and events that are mentioned only in the Quran but not in the other books?
- There are some atheists who say that the Quran is a book of excerpts from historical books, literature texts and the other heavenly books. What are the issues that are mentioned in the Quran but not in the Gospel, the Torah, the Psalms and the Avesta?

The Answer

Dear Brother / Sister,

The following is stated in verse 49 of the chapter of Hud by referring to the stories of the prophets mentioned previously:

“Such are some of the stories of the unseen, which We have revealed unto thee: before this, neither thou nor thy people knew them. So, persevere patiently: for the End is for those who are righteous.”

The verse above shows that some of the stories of the prophets mentioned in the Quran were not known by the people living at that time.

Similarly, many verses indicating scientific facts (like the winds’ pollinating plants and clouds, the water of two different seas not mixing with each other, etc.) were not known in the previous eras.

Some stories are narrated in the Torah and the Gospel, but not exactly. In the Quran, some parts of those stories are narrated as in the Torah and the Gospel but some parts have been corrected.

Since the source is the same, there can be nothing more natural than mentioning similar things, talking about the same realities and narrating the same stories in the heavenly books. However, it is strange that this state, which shows the oneness of the source, is presented as a reason for some people’s moving away from the way of guidance.

For instance, Turan Dursun, who is one of those people, narrates the reason why he became a denier as follows in his book called “Din Bu”:

“Why did the revolution of faith happen in me? Or, why did faithlessness form in me? I was interested in orientalism. I went to big libraries. I saw and read the origin of Islam then. I read them in legends too. Once, I came across with a Sumerian legend: the Deluge legend. I saw that it exists in the Torah and in the Quran. How can a legend, a Sumerian legend, exist both in the Torah and the Quran? It is thought to have been written in 3.000 BC. Much earlier than Islam and even the Torah. Why do their legends exist in the holy books? Most of the laws of Hammurabi exist exactly in the Torah; then, they were transferred to the Quran. What is that if they are Allah’s words? My shock started like that.”

In fact, what makes T. Dursun doubt is one of the greatest evidences showing that the Quran is the word of Allah, that all divine religions had the same origin and that they were all sent by Allah.

Since the source is the same and since they are based on the same revelation, it is normal that the same things are mentioned, the same realities are talked about and the same stories are narrated in all divine books; it must be like that. The opposite of it is not in question.

People are physically dependent on one source, and they are fed from the same source in terms of faith. As conflicts arose, corrections were made through prophets.
