1-) The extraordinary events that took place before his birth are a proof of his prophethood.

There are some important events that took place before the birth of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). Since these events are connected with the prophet Muhammad (PUBH) and the blessed place in which he was born, they are both his miracles and proofs of his prophethood.

A few examples from them;

  • Fifty-two days before the birth of prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Abraha and his army attacked the city of Mecca in order to destruct the Kaaba but they were stoned by the birds named Ababil,

  • The idols in the Kaaba fell down and broke into pieces,

  • Fourteen towers of Kisra’s Palace in the city of Madayin fell down,

  • The enormous fire of Zoroastrians which had been burning for thousands of years suddenly died out,

  • The famous Lake of Sawa (Tabariyya), dried up all of a sudden…

Those events and similar ones show that the Qibla of this blessed person to be born would be Mecca and he would demolish all kinds of idolatry and polytheism. To have more information on this subject, please refer to the part “Good News of the Prophet’s Coming before His Birth” in the section of the “Miracles of the Prophet Muhammad”

2-) Thousands of Miracles He Showed Prove His (PBUH) prophethood.

There are hundreds of miracles of Hazrat Muhammd (pbuh) that have reached us through sound resources. As it is stated by the verses, “And the moon split” [1], "When you threw, it was not your act, but Allah's." [2], that he divides the moon into two with a gesture of his finger, that small rocks glorify and praise Allah (SWT) in the Prophet's hand (ASW), that he casts of a handful of dust into the eyes of his enemies, causing them to flee, that he gives his thirsting army to drink from the water that flowed forth from his five fingers like the Spring of Kawthar and hundreds of his other miracles become evident through tawatur. Tawatur means true news reported by a group of crowded people that is impossible to tell lies through documents; the miracles of Hazrat Muhammad are news that is like tawatur.

More than a thousand miracles of the Prophet are narrated in hadith books. We present about three hundred of those miracles in the part called the “Miracles of the Prophet”. We refer you to that part for details and say that a person who has so many obvious miracles is definitely the truest person. It is impossible for him to resort to lies, wrong things and tricks, which are committed by immoral people.

3-) The Signs of divine books such as the Torah, Bible and Psalms are a proof of Muhammad’s (PBUH) prophethood.

The coming of our prophet (PBUH) is the most significant event of this universe. For an incomprehensible book is no more than a nonsensical paper and only gains meaning when an instructor teaches it. The universe gains meaning with the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), too.

So, is it possible for those tens of thousands of prophets before the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) not inform people about such an important event? Of course not. For their duty is a sort of a preparation for the prophet Muhammad (PUBH) who has been waited. For this reason, all previous prophets informed about the Prophet (PBUH) more or less.

Such a question may come to our mind; since previous prophets informed people about him, then why the prophet Muhammad (PUBH) is being rejected by the majority of the followers of those prophets? It is because the previous divine books are distorted and they lost their originality through many translations. The evaluation of Badiuzzaman Said Nursi concerning this subject is very original:

“Indeed, since those Books are revealed scriptures and those who brought them were prophets, it is necessary and certain that they should have mentioned the one who would supersede their religions, change the shape of the universe, and illuminate half the earth with the light he brought. Is it possible that those scriptures, which foretold insignificant events, would not speak of the most important phenomenon of humanity, the prophethood of Muhammad (PBUH)? Yes, since they would certainly speak of it, they would either denounce it as a falsehood and so save their religions from destruction and their books from abrogation, or they would affirm it, and through that man of truth, save their religions from superstition and corruption. Now, both friend and foe agree that there is no sign of any such denouncement in the scriptures, in which case there must be affirmation.” (1)

Scholars of Islam have dealt with and quoted many of the verses of the Bible, Torah and Psalms that indicate the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in their books. For example, Husain Jisri quoted a hundred and fourteen signs from those previous divine books in his book called Risala al-Hamidiyya.

For more information concerning this subject, you can refer to the part called “The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in the Bible, Torah and Psalms.”

4-) The good news of the arrival of the prophet (PBUH) prophesized from the realm of unseen by some Jinn called Hatif and idols, including the writings on gravestones are a proof of Muhammad’s prophethood.

There were some Jinn called Hatif from the clans of Jinn informing the good news of the arrival of the prophet Muhammad (BPUH) who were not seen but only heard by their voice before the birth of the prophet (PBUH) or His prophethood. There are many authentic riwayahs in sirah and Hadith books concerning this issue. For example a Hatif called to Zayyab Ibn Haritha as follows:

“O Zayab, O Zayab! Listen carefully to the strangest of the strange: Muhammad has been sent with a book; He is calling the city of Mecca, but they do not listen to Him.” (1)

Similarly, another Hatif called Samia Ibn Qarrat Ghatafani as follows and caused the hearers to have belief:

"Truth has (now) arrived, and Falsehood perished.” (2)

Hatif from the Jinn clan prophesized the arrival of the prophet Muhammad (PBUH); similarly, it is written in history and sirah books that some idols and even the sacrificed animals for those idols prophesized His arrival. For example, the idol of Mazan tribe gave the good news of the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as follows by exclaiming:

“The prophet that is going to be sent will come with a revelation; a book of truth.” (3)

Likewise, the name of the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and His reformatory attribute was written before him on some stones and gravestones. (4) At that time, there was not anyone among the people who had this name and who deserved such an attribute other than the prophet Muhammad (PBUH). (5) So, it shows that what was written there had informed people about the prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

5-) It is Proof for His Prophethood That What He Said in His Hadiths was Proved by Science Afterwards.

It is not something that can be done by an ordinary person to make some diagnoses and determinations that could be understood after centuries. The Prophet (pbuh) made statements about tens of different branches of science; those statements turned out to be miracles as the branches of science developed.

For instance, he said, “For every disease, there is a cure.”[1] As the science of medicine developed and the pharmacy of nature was searched by scientists, it was confirmed that this statement was a miracle. If there were a disease that has not been cured for centuries, this claim of the Prophet would be refuted. However, when a disease was determined, a cure for that disease was found after a while as it was expressed by the Prophet (pbuh).

He applied quarantine centuries ago.

“'If you hear about an outbreak of plague in a land, do not go to it; but if plague breaks out in a country where you are staying, do not run away from it.”[2]

Thus, he indicated the existence of tiny organisms that were noticed only after the invention of the microscope and infectious diseases in a period when microbes, bacteria and infectious diseases were not known.

He said, “When a dog licks a utensil, it should be cleaned by soil and then with water seven times.”[3] That is, he advised soil to be used for disinfection. That hadith is a scientific miracle because the existence of the disinfectants like “tetralite” and “terlaxine” in soil was discovered only in this century. Besides, it was also discovered in this century that many harmful organisms that live in the bodies of dogs could also live in the bodies of human beings.

He said, “If a fly falls in the vessel of any of you, let him dip all of it into the vessel and then throw it away; for, in one of its wings, there is a disease and in the other there is healing.” [4] First of all, it is a miracle on its own that the Prophet knew that the fly could carry germs while the people who lived in that period did not know about it. The fly that falls into a dish generally tries to get out through one wing. In that case, to dip the fly into the dish would make it release the antidote into the dish.

“When a woman companion said that her bleeding never stopped, he told her to continue performing prayers and added that if the bleeding continued for more than a certain time, it would not be normal bleeding but that it would originate from a disease in the veins.”[5] The medicine has proved today that the menstrual blood that does not stop after a certain time passes is an indication of a disease.

The Prophet (pbuh) said, “Ten things are of nature of man” and he mentioned circumcision as one of them.[6] Today, scientists state that the skin that is cut off during circumcision can be so dangerous as to cause cancer because it accumulates dirt and germs, confirming the miracle of the Prophet (pbuh).

He said, “Avoid being soiled with urine; do not urinate while standing.” [7] We were informed that urinating while standing causes serious risks. One of those risks is caused by urine particles entering the body through breathing and sticking onto lungs. Another risk is caused by the increase of some microorganisms when the urinary bladder is not emptied completely. Those microorganisms cause illnesses like prostatitis. Moreover, some substances in the urine in the urinary bladder that is not emptied completely deposit and cause the formation of bladder stones.

The examples given here are like a drop from the sea. As time passes, and as branches of science develop, scientists will confirm the truthiness of the Prophet (pbuh) regarding many issues.

6-) To End...

We tried to deal with some issues under several headings in order to prove the truthiness of the cause of Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh). However, when the Prophet (pbuh) is in question, what is stated is definitely not sufficient because he is the reason why the realm of existence was created. He is the most perfect and best equipped man that was created. All of his attitudes and acts prove his truthiness. Each individual of his ummah is a loyal witness of his cause. It is naturally not possible to fully understand the Prophet (pbuh), who has so many witnesses and who receives his share from the worshipping of his hundreds of millions of followers every day as it is expressed by the rule, “a person who causes something to happen is regarded as if he has done it”, and to  make him known fully. However, like the ant that said on the way of hajj “if I cannot reach there, I will die in this way”, we want to add one more work to the collection of thousands of volumes of books written by scholars in this way and to become one of the witnesses even if we cannot accomplish it fully. We ask Allah, who is the most Merciful of the Merciful, to make us successful in our aim and pray as follows:

“Peace and blessings be upon our master Muhammad millions of times, to the number of the good deeds of his community, to whom was revealed the All-Wise Criterion of Truth and Falsehood, from One Most Merciful, Most Compassionate, from the Sublime Throne; whose Prophethood was foretold by the Old Testament and the New Testament, and told of by wondrous signs, the voices of jinn, saints of man, and soothsayers; at whose indication the moon split; our master Muhammad! Peace and blessings be upon him millions of times, to the number of the breaths of his community; at whose beckoning came the tree, on whose prayer rain swiftly fell, and whom the cloud shaded from the heat; who satisfied a hundred men with his food; from between whose fingers three times flowed water like the Spring of Kawthar; and to whom Allah made speak the lizard, the gazelle, the wolf, the torso, the arm, the camel, the mountain, the rock, and the clod; the one who made the Ascension and whose eye did not waver; our master and intercessor, Muhammad! Peace and blessings be upon him thousands and thousands of times, to the number of the letters of the Qur'an formed in the words represented with the permission of the Most Merciful in the mirrors of the airwaves at the reciting of all the words of the Qur'an by all reciters from when it was first revealed to the end of time. And grant us forgiveness and have mercy on us, O God, for each of those blessings. Amen.”

7-) The Reforms that He made in the society that He was sent as a Prophet is a proof of His (PBUH) prophethood.

Let us think of a small society! A society whose people are extremely stubborn and are loyal to their traditions just like flesh and bone. Let us think that we are an important judge in such a society. Although we are an important judge, to what extent can we change the traditions of this stubborn society by working hard and replace them with high ethics?

Let us think of the following too before answering this question:

A father sometimes cannot change the bad habits of his son despite his advice. A teacher sometimes cannot demolish the bad ethics of his/her students. Despite all kinds of harsh punishment, crimes such as theft cannot be prevented. A doctor cannot cause an addictive person to give up smoking…

Now, as a great judge, how many of the customs could we change in such a stubborn society and how long would it take?

It is clear that a great judge can only cause to give up a small custom in a small society such as smoking temporarily. However, Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) managed to eliminate many great customs from a stubborn society whose people were strictly loyal to their traditions in a very short time with a very limited power and aid. He replaced those customs with such high ethics that it is matchless in history.

No reformist in the history of the world was able to make reforms that affected the whole society in tens of different fields. For instance, they achieved reforms in one or a few of the fields like politics, economy, industry, education, war, etc. The history of the world is a witness that even the genius leaders of the ideological movements were able to activate only a few feelings like nationalism and freedom in the people they addressed. They could not succeed in affecting people in all fields.

However, Hazrat Muhammad made many reforms from art to health from justice to equality; he replaced the customs of the Jahiliyya with high ethics ; he made reforms in about a hundred fields from exacts sciences to war tactics; he changed that society, which was so loyal to their customs, in such a short time and to such a great extent that it is unprecedented in history. Some Bedouins who listened to him for only a few minutes underwent such a great change that they became superior to civilized people and returned to their tribes or countries as guides and teachers; those Bedouins, Hazrat Umar, who had been a camel wrestler but became a caliph that ruled an enormous state with justice, and others were the fruits of the community that Hazrat Muhammad established.

We show the Arabian Peninsula and say to those people who do not or cannot see the Era of Bliss of Hazrat Muhammad, “Will you be able to do only one per cent of what he did there by hundreds of philosophers and sociologists and working there with them for a hundred years?

8-) His Bravery is a proof of his (PBUH) prophethood.

Let us think a person who has a fabricated cause. When another person tries to murder him because of his lie and attempts to kill him with a weapon, that liar will give up his cause and want to save his life. He may even beg to be forgiven and disregard his honour as a liar.

Let us look at the trueness of the cause of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) from the example given above. If the cause of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was a fabricated one (God Forbid); would he exclaim his case even if the swords were on him and left alone at a time when his army scattered? Of course not. Many events in his (PBUH) life proved that his (PBUH) cause is right; there is no lie in the slightest degree. We will give an example here and for further explanation of the subject please refer to the part, “The Exemplary Ethics of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)” under the heading of “Brave.”

This is a famous event which has been conveyed to us from many authentic hadith resources. The prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was having a rest away from His tribe during an expedition. A brave tribe chief who was called Ghawrath succeeded in approaching the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) without being seen. He shouted by holding up his sword over the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) “Who will save you from me?” The prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who woke up from sleep, answered him without feeling any hesitation, worry and fear, “Allah”. And then, he prayed as follows: “O my Allah! Save me from him with a thing as you wish” At that moment, Ghawrath tumbled down to the ground with a sudden strike on his back which came from nowhere. This time, the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) got the sword of Ghawrath, which he trusted on too much. Now it was his turn; he asked: “Now who will save you from me?”Ghawrath was regretful. He answered, “There is no one to save me!.. He asked for forgiveness. The prophet Muhammad (PBUH) forgave the man who tried to kill him just a few minutes ago and let him go. (1)

9-) That the News He gave about the Future Turned out to be True Proves His Prophethood.

There is a lot of news that the Prophet (pbuh) gave about the future and that occurred as he said. For instance, the martyrdom of Hazrat Uthman while reading the Quran, the martyrdom of Hazrat Husayn in Karbala, the conquest of Damascus, Persia and Istanbul, the establishment of the Abbasid State, the attack of cruel people like Genghis and Hulagu on Abbasids occurred as the Prophet had predicted. We find it sufficient to give those examples and we refer you to the part called “the Miracles of the Prophet” for more detailed information about his news related to the future.

Now, we ask this question: Is it possible for an illiterate person to give so much true information about events that will take place in the future using definite expressions not sentences containing probabilities without making any mistakes? Definitely not. It means he learned them from his Lord, who is the owner of all information about the unknown, and spoke accordingly.

10-) Introduction

There are three main instructors that teach us our Lord:

1.    In the universe, the realm of living creatures each of which is a miracle and created by God.

2.    The prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

3.    The Glorious Qur’an.

This part has been prepared in order to prove the rightness of the cause of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) who is the second one of the three main instructors that let us know our Lord and show the proofs of the prophethood of him as an apostle of God.

Proving that Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) is the apostle of God and His cause is right also means to be proving that the Qur’an is the book of God and its teachings are true, which is one of its supreme cause. For the utmost matter of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) is proving the existence and oneness of God. Accepting Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) as a prophet also means accepting other fundamentals of belief such as resurrection after death, angels and fate. For these fundamentals of belief are proved and explained in the Qur’an, which is conveyed to us by Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).

For this reason, we always need proofs of His prophethood. For we have many enemies that try to destruct our belief primarily the devil and its student, our nafs (the evil commanding soul). So, we need to keep these truths alive in our inner world and not let the students of evil attack us.

With this aim, we will try to explain some of the proofs of the prophethood below. However, it should be known that what we are going to present here about the proofs of the prophethood is not restricted with the information here. What we will present here is only a drop of water from an ocean. Even thousands of books are not enough to explain the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) from all aspects. However, we will strive to achieve this as much as possible and anyone who wants more information should refer to the Risale-i Nur Collection by Badiuzzaman Said NURSI.

11-) The uniqueness of his prayer is a proof his (PBUH) prophethood

The prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is unique in both his prayers just and in his worshipping. His life is a prayer. He had a prayer in every manner and action that we can imagine such as his standing up, walking, eating, drinking, sleeping, and awaking. He is always connected to his Lord and seeking his blessing. The scholars of Islam wrote tons of books concerning his prayers.

Anyone who looks only at his prayers called Jawshanul Kabir, which is a prayer of his among thousands of prayers will accept his uniqueness. For he praises his Lord in such a way that no scholar or awliya (saint) who share the same belief since his prophethood can reach his level. That no one can reach him in glorifying Allah shows that there is no one that can compete with him in prayer.

For detailed information, we advise you to read the part called “the Prayers of the Prophet”, which was compiled out of hundreds of prayers of the Prophet.

12-) The expressions of soothsayers and some scholars concerning the good news of the Prophet’s coming to this world before his birth are a proof his prophethood.

Some soothsayers foremost Shiqq and Satih, who lived before the birth of the prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and some mediums who got news from the realm of the unseen prophesied the arrival of the prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the place and time of his birth and also some of his actions.

The scholars of that time also gave the good news of the prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) arrival like soothsayers and mediums. For example, many intellectuals and scholars of that time like Kab Ibn Luayy, who was from the ancestors of the prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and sultans of Yemen and Damascus like Sayf Ibn Ziyazin and Tubba informed people about the prophethood of the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) very explicitly and some of them declared him in their poems.

Furthermore, one of those sultans said: “I prefer being a manservant of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) to this sultanate.” (1) One of them also said: “Alas! If I reached his time, I would be a cousin of him.” (2) That is, I would be a self-sacrificing servant and vizier of him.

For more information, please refer to the part “The Miraclesthat Took Place Before the Assignment of Prophethood” in this section: “The Miracles of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).”

13-) The high ethics and good habits that are collected in his personality is a proof of his (PBUH) prophethood.

In the previous part, we have mentioned about that the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was equipped with perfect ethics. Yes, everybody agrees that our beloved Prophet was created with high ethics. For he (PBUH) was directly disciplined by God and equipped with exemplary ethics. We will present a few examples from his perfect ethics.

- He is unique in modesty. Though he is the most dignified human and master of the universe, there is no any example of his modesty. He used to do his own work at home, slept on firm ground, preferred sitting on the ground and gave up his seat when a visitor came. He used to ride his camel along with his servant in turns and grasp the leash while his servant was on it. He used to get pleasure by serving his companions and when a fire was to be set, He used to prefer the difficult task and collected woods. When people stood up with respect to him, he warned them and said he was “a human among other humans”.

- He is unique in leadership. He has an understanding of leadership which encompasses the society in which he lives wholly from every aspect. He was equal with everyone in terms of social rights though he was leading them. His perfect leadership in battles where he was a commander impressed everyone.

- He was perfect in intelligence. The prophet Muhammad (BPUH), who was illiterate, is perfect in the sense that he solved any problem that he came across very easily. This characteristic impressed and caught the attention of the researcher Bernard Shaw; in one of his works, Bernard Shaw used this expression:

“We need the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) more than ever in a time when the problems of man heaped up and became insolvable. If he was alive, he would solve all of these problems with an easiness of drinking a cup of coffee.” (1)

- His compassion is amazing. We sometimes see him while helping an orphan or satisfying a poor hungry man. This is so clear that he changed the route of his army in order not to disturb an animal on His way. Sometimes a camel or a companion resorts to his compassion; he shows the same kindness for the camel and seeks its right while listening to his companion’s trouble. There remained no one who could not get his share from his forgiveness. The assassins, murderers of his uncle or son and notorious enemies demand his mercy sooner or later and become his companions.

- He is unique as a father. Despite all financial impossibilities, his treatment towards his spouses with love and mercy, his giving importance to his spouses as he listens to them and acting according to their advice, his treatment towards his children and grandsons as a reverend guests in a society where girls are buried alive, his unique and great treatment while playing with his grandsons, carrying them on his back is a proof of his (PBUH) prophethood.

Due to the length of the topic, please refer to the section called “The Exemplary Ethics of the prophet”, where we tried our best to explain the ethics of the prophet (PBUH) for the continuation of this subject.

14-) The Qur’an is a proof of his (BPUH) prophethood.

All the proofs of Prophet Muhammad along with his prophethood (PBUH) is a proof for the truth of the Glorious Qur’an and it is the word of God. Likewise, he is a prophet; he does not tell a lie and cannot slander God. Since he does not tell a lie and cannot slander, of course, His command as “It is the word of God” is definitely the word of God. Similarly, all miracles of the Qur’an along with its proofs prove the prophethood of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). For only the apostle of Allah can declare the book of God.

If we say, “The Qur’an is the word of God, since the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) showed many miracles”, that is, if we show the miracles of the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as a proof, it will definitely be true. As he showed miracles, he is the apostle of God. As he is a prophet, of course, his book must be nothing other than the word of God. If we make a final comment on this subject, “The Prophet Muhammad (PUBH) is the apostle of God since there is no equivalent of the Qur’an…” The news of the Qur’an from the past and future has been proved and the science of history and archeology has confirmed the trustiness of its news…

The Qur’an also informed people about many scientific truths 1400 years ago. The trustiness of this news has been confirmed by scientists.

The most stubborn enemies of the Qur’an are impressed by its expression; its enemies confirmed its beauty.

The Qur’an has made many reforms both in personal, social and political areas; and these reforms impressed sociologists.

The fairness of judgments of the Qur’an has been confirmed by lawyers, too.

If we use the proofs which prove the Qur’an as a word of God for the proofs of the prophethood of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), this discourse will be true like the previous one.  Since the Qur’an is the word of God that we have stated up to now, of course, the person who revealed it must be the apostle of God because the word of God can only be sent to the apostle of God but not to anyone else.

Then we say in regard to the hundreds of proofs which prove that the Qur’an is a divine book, Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) is the prophet of God. Since the Qur’an revealed to the Prophet (PBUH) is the word of God by hundreds of proofs. In order to reject the prophethood of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), it is necessary to reject the command of God (the Qur’an) and accept it as a word of human. However, it is not possible. Even Satan cannot claim such a thing. It cannot deceive a mind which is not spoiled. It only tries to deceive people by making them see things from a distance and to make stars look small like lightning bugs.

15-) Those Who Follow in the Prophet’s (pbuh) Footsteps Prove His Prophethood.

One can doubt whether a seed is a seed of an apple tree or an oleander tree if the seed remains as a seed. If the seed is put into the soil and if it starts to grow and have branches, fruits and flowers, there remains no doubt about it; it is no longer disputed what kind of seed it is. To claim that a seed that has turned to an apple tree and yields apples is an oleander seed, it is necessary to close one’s eyes and not to see the apple tree and the apples and not to hear their witnessing. Each fruit of the apple tree speaks in a language that is peculiar to them and says, “The seed of our tree is an apple seed.”; thus, they will deny the person who claims that it is an oleander seed.

Similarly, Hazrat Muhammad is also a seed. The tree of Islam came out of him. This tree has fourteen big branches, each of which represents a century. Each branch has millions of fruits and flowers.

Each companion, saint, revivalist, scholar is a fruit of this tree. Thousands of saints and scholars who follow in the steps of Muhammad (pbuh) with his principles and education reach the truth, perfection, extraordinary states and they witness unanimously the truthiness and the prophethood of Hazrat Muhammad. They see some of the news given by him through the light of sainthood and confirm the other news through the light of their belief; they approve the truthiness of him.

On the other hand, the fact that the civilizations founded by Islam are perfect and that they ruled continents with justice approve the truthiness of the Prophet (pbuh).

If one wants to deny the prophethood of Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh), he needs to deny the religion of Islam, which is produced from that seed, and the fruits of those seeds that we have mentioned above: the companions, saints, scholars and all of the other people of perfection need to be denied. They received their perfection from Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh).

If anyone intends to act against Hazrat Muhammad, who is their seed, they will speak with a language peculiar to them and say,

“O presumptuous person! How can you attack our seed? Look at us; if our seed were rotten – God forbid –, would we be able to be alive like this? If you want to deny our seed, which is the apparent cause of our life, you need to silence us and overshadow our perfection first. O presumptuous person! Neither you nor any other person can do it. How can you deny thousands of fruits while you cannot deny Abdulqadir Ghaylani, who is only one of those fruits? If you close your eyes, it will be dark only for you. Open your eyes and see what a great and straight tree came out of the seed that you are trying to deny and come to your senses!..”

16-) The Necessity of a Teacher That Will See the High Purposes in the Creation of the Universe and Inform People about Them Proves His Prophethood.

The beauties, the wonderful system, the perfect creatures in the universe indicate their creator and administrator. Similarly, those creatures in the universe necessitate the existence of a messenger.  This Messenger;

  • has to know the divine purposes and inform people about them;

  • has to learn from the continuous changes, deaths, births, destructions and constructions taking place in the universe and teach people about the divine wisdom in them;

  • has to teach people about the dutiful actions of the things in the universe, from stars to atoms, and declare the value of the universe and the perfection of the creatures in it;

  • has to answer the stunning questions of the creatures in this realm like, “Where are they coming from?”, “Where will they go?” and “Why do they come here and why do they not stay here for a long time and leave?”

  • has to be a loud proclaimer that will read the meaning of the book of the universe and the verses of creation and that will interpret their wisdom.

A loud proclaimer, a loyal messenger, a researching teacher and a true explorer that will fulfill those duties is absolutely necessary.

As the history witnesses, the person who fulfilled those duties more than anybody else is Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh). Those duties witness strongly and universally that he is the highest and most loyal official of the Creator of this universe.

Yes, through the light that Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh) brought, the real nature, value, perfection of the universe and the duties, outcomes, tasks and values of the creatures in it are understood and known. Thus, the universe becomes a divine letter that is very meaningful as a whole. It becomes like an embodied divine book and informs people about its Maker, who created them like a magnificent exhibition.

Otherwise, it becomes a mere desolate ruin, a confused, terrible place of mourning, toppling over into the darkness of non-existence, nothingness, death, and obliteration. It is in consequence of this truth that the universe’s perfections, purposeful transformations, and eternal meanings declare in powerful fashion: “We testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah!..”

17-) The Extraordinary States of His Descendants (Sayyids and Sharifs) called Aal-i Muhammad that Came After His Death and Their Service to Islam prove His Prophethood.

The lineage of the Prophet is called Aal-i Muhammad, Aal-i Bayt or Ahl al-Bayt. This blessed lineage has served Islam for centuries and has been the material and spiritual leaders of Muslims. The following prayer for Ahl al-Bayt, which the Prophet taught us and which the ummah has been saying for centuries especially at the last part of the daily prayers, has been accepted by Allah so much that the imams of Ahl al-Bayt have spread all over the world and have served Islam for centuries:

“O Allah! Bestow Your blessings upon our master Muhammad and the Family of Muhammad, as You bestowed Your blessings upon Abraham and the Family of Abraham. Assuredly, You are All-Praised, All-Illustrious!”

Millions of believers followed great guides like Sayyid Abdulqadir Ghaylani, Sayyid Abu’l-Hasan ash-Shazali, Sayyid Ahmad al-Badawi and served Islam under their guidance. There is no generation whose lineage has been proved through such pedigrees and documents in the world today. Ahl al-Bayt transferred what they saw, learnt and heard from the Prophet (pbuh) exactly to today like living samples of the Prophet and became exemplary personalities for Muslims.

The service of those millions of sayyids to Islam and their loyalty to their cause indicate that the religion proclaimed by Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh) is true and right because they were the closest people to Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh). If they had had the slightest suspicion about him, would they have worked so hard for his cause? Definitely not. It means the cause of Muhammad (pbuh) is true and right. The imams of Ahl al-Bayt are fruits of a pedigree that follow in the footsteps of this cause and that are spiritual leaders of people. May Allah be pleased with them all.

18-) The Fact That He Fulfilled His Duty Despite the Multitude of His Enemies and That the Religion of Islam Spread to the Whole World Prove His Prophethood.

Is it possible for a person who does not rely on any power and who acts alone to proclaim his cause without fearing, hesitating and panicking and with courage despite his extremely strong enemies; is it possible for the religion proclaimed by that person to be superior to other religions? Definitely not!..

Let us have a look at Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh) again: He showed such strength, steadfastness and courage while conveying his message and calling people to the truth that he did not show any signs of hesitation, panic or cowardliness despite the enmity of big states and religions and his own tribe and even his own uncle; the fact that he challenged the world alone and became successful and that he spread Islam all over the world prove his uniqueness in conveying the message and calling people to truth.

That he called the big states to Islam when there were only a handful of Muslims around him and when his own tribe had not heeded him yet proves that his cause was right. If his cause had been wrong – God forbid -, would he have attempted such a thing that would set the big states of the world against him? At that time, even his own tribe had not accepted Islam and they had fought him several times. The states that he called to Islam were the super powers of that time: Byzantine and Persia. They had enormous armies with millions of soldiers. On the other hand, he lived in Madinah, a city-state, with a handful of Muslims around him.

Can we attribute the strength and courage he showed despite his solitude and weakness to anything other than his reliance on and trust in Allah?

One of the brightest proofs of his prophethood is that he was sent with a religion and as a prophet for all times and places not for the time and place he lived in. The wonderful call of the Prophet exceeded all places and reached the whole world. Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh) became successful in his universal call. Today, the big religions are gradually melting when they face Islam; they also witness the truthfulness of Islam. [1]

[1] You can find the historical documents that the Conference of European Churches  accepted Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh) as a prophet in the book written by Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akgündüz, the Rector of the Islamic University of Rotterdam, in his book called , “Çandan Minareye Büyük İtiraf”.

19-) His Didactic Aspect and the Truths He Taught to Humanity Prove His Prophethood.

One of the most emphasized attributes of the Prophet (pbuh) is his “illiteracy”. The reason why his illiteracy is emphasized so much is the fact that what he achieved through his activities cannot be achieved by the most professional scientists, academicians and experts. This aspect is one of the greatest miracles of the Prophet. His activities in education are like that, too.

When we have a look at the Era of Madinah, where the Prophet (pbuh) established a civilized community, we see that he educated his Companions in tens of different branches. All of those branches can be found in the books related to Islamic history; we will mention some of them as examples:

“Fundamentals of belief, worshipping, issues related to worshipping, the interpretation and explanation of some verses, good manners related to social life and high ethics, health and cure, news related to the mischief-making and riots to occur in the future, prayers (supplications),jihad (fighting in the way of Allah), laws related to jihad, war tactics, issues related to business and trade, issues related to deals, contracts, loans and indemnification, issues related to companies, issues related to agricultural partnership, issues related to the management and division of shared goods and land, issues related to lost property, issues related to extortion and destruction, issues related to witnessing and evidence, issues related to  pawning, issues related to renting, issues related to  inheritance and heredity, issues related to  marriage and divorce, issues related to donations and grants, issues related to  murders and blood money, crime and punishment, issues related to  taxes, judgments related to lawsuits, issues related to  judging and courts...” [1] and many other judgments related to tens of branches...

Now we ask this question: Is it not a miracle for one single person to introduce perfect judgments in all of those branches and to educate people regarding those branches? Today, many scientists study in faculties for years for each of the issues we have listed above but they cannot introduce unerring and unchangeable judgments for those issues like that illiterate person (the Prophet) did. However, the judgments introduced by the Prophet (pbuh) have been valid for fourteen centuries. It is one of the most evident proofs that he is the Messenger of Allah...

20-) Being more perfect than anyone in his worshipping is a proof of his prophethood.

Is it possible for an illiterate person who did not know or read anything about His own religion or a different one to invent a type of worshipping which is unique and has no example in any religion? For a person who is introducing a kind of worshipping must research the sources of all religions. If this person is illiterate, then how can he achieve this?

Another point is that if a person is not a prophet, then why should he invent various kinds of worshipping by himself? And why should he be better than anyone in worshipping?  Why should he oblige himself to perform worshipping which is difficult and cause him to disturb his ease as he did not command Muslims to perform them? Is this possible?

Now again let us look at the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH):

  • That person is perfect in terms of all kinds of worship in His religion. It is a good example that Tahajjud prayer which is Sunnah for us is Fard for Him (PBUH). (1) He is unique in terms of worshipping such as fasting, zakah and salah (prayers).

  • He feared from God more than anyone else and devoted his life to gain the consent of God. He prayed at night until His feet swelled (2), strived to be a slave of God through his contemplation and prayer. He could sleep only after giving away the alms that came to his home. He was relieved whenever these alms were distributed. (3)

  • He did not make concessions from his worshipping and orders of his religion even in the most difficult conditions.Furthermore, in difficult conditions such as in the battle of Badr, where there were enemies three times greater than themselves in number, and thus he did not give up congregational prayers, living every point of religion in such a perfect way. (4)

  • He successfully combined all qualities of other prophets’ religions in Islam without imitating anyone. That is, he combined and lived all kinds of worshipping of prophets from Hz. Adam to him.

21-) The opposite characteristics that are present in his (PBUH) personality is a proof of his prophethood.

Definitely, the Qur’an is the book that informs and teaches us the high ethics that our Lord wants to see from us. It is Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) who lived a life according to the Qur’an and set an example with his actions. When Hz. Aisha asked what kind of ethics the Prophet (PBUH) had, she described it as follows; “Dot you not read the Qur’an? His ethics was the ethics of the Qur’an.” (1)

Allah, who gathered all kinds of high ethics at the highest level in Hz. Muhammad (PBUH), created him in the most handsome way physically and made Him the best in ethics among mankind. His ethics is so high that the Allah addresses him as follows in His book:

“Nay, verily for thee is a Reward unfailing: And thou (standest) on an exalted standard of character.” (2)

Another important subject which is presented here is the perfectness of his ethics and he is at the top in every good attribute and he is perfect in opposite qualities. Good habits of course are not poles apart. However, the existence of every habit at the highest ethical level in a person is difficult. A good attribute or a quality which is at the top may weaken another good attribute. For example, excessive tender-mindedness along with excessive braveness and fearlessness, excessive modesty along with excessive solemnity and dignity, meticulous justice along with excessive truthfulness, a complete thriftiness with complete benevolence, a boundless love and mercy along with anger and wrath…

The togetherness of good habits that may seem controversial in a person at the highest level is a miraculous event since a good habit does not oppose another good habit.

So, the combination of all good habits in Hz. Muhammad (PBUH) sets forth another miraculous aspect of his. Although they do not have belief, many western and eastern scholars accepted his perfection. Hz. Muhammad (BPUH) is such a perfect human that he has not been forgotten and his perfection has been mentioned through generations and his name has had a place.

22-) The Perfectness of the laws of Islam is a proof of Muhammad’s prophethood (PBUH)

Is it possible that an illiterate person can make laws by himself and can those laws, without any change, rule at least one fourth of the people within a total of fourteen centuries with justice and truthiness? Of course not.

Now we are looking at Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH); the laws come along with an illiterate person that has been ruling one fourth of the people for fourteen centuries with justice and truthiness. There is no a similar example of this. Even laws made by lawyers who have been studying in this area cannot continue their validity for a couple of years. We do not mention the injustice caused by human made laws, either. Now, how can we explain those laws through that person if we do not consider the revelations of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) or his prophethood?

Is it possible for an illiterate person to fabricate a religion and can this religion become a guide for millions of people in fourteen centuries, be their teacher, purifier of their hearts, tamer of their nafs and a means for their spiritual progress where there are millions of supporters in every age? Does it have a similar example? Of course not…

Now we are looking at Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) again; there cannot be a grater or a similar example of this illiterate person from whom Islam was born by his words, manners and actions  and who became the guide of millions of people, source of solution, and teacher of people’s spiritual development. If we do not accept the prophethood of this person (PBUH), then how can we explain the reform of Islam and Islam’s effect on souls, brains and emotions?

23-) The fact that the Companions who observed all of his acts and words believed him so much as to sacrifice their parents prove his prophethood.

Let us think: Suppose that we have friends and some members of our family that are always with us. Is it normal for them to believe us so much as to sacrifice their and their parents’ lives when they see some of our mistakes although they love us very much? Is such a belief possible unless we are perfect and wonderful? Definitely not...

The friends of the Prophet (pbuh) that were always with him and that observed all of his acts are called the “Companions”. Would those people who observed and witnessed all of his acts closely have been so faithful to him as to sacrifice their lives if they had seen the slightest insincerity, lie or fraud of the Prophet (pbuh)? They were so faithful to him that they would fight against their parents and brothers when necessary. They were so faithful that Anas Bin Nadr was cut into pieces for his sake [1] and Habbab bin Arat was burnt by hot iron [2].

At this point, Satan can bring this question to the mind: “They may have acted like that because they were afraid of him? How can you prove it?” We can answer the question of Satan with this truth: If they had acted like that due to their fear, they would not have had to act like that after he died; Islam would have ended after his death if what Satan claims had been true. On the contrary, the fact that Islam spread all over the world after his death thanks to the Companions shows that their faith originated from the truthiness of the Prophet’s (pbuh) cause and their belief not from their fear.

That belief of the Companions made them reach the highest level after the Prophet (pbuh) in the realm of humanity. The fact that the greatest saint cannot reach the level of the smallest Companion is an indication of their belief. May Allah be pleased with them.

The fact that the Messenger of Allah saved those Companions from the savagery of the Era of Jahiliyya and elevated them to the highest level of the humanity and educated them in such a manner that they sacrificed their money, property, families, fame and lives and became guides and leaders for the most civilized communities prove his prophethood. It is the Prophet (pbuh) who trained and educated them.

We refer you to the part called “the Companions of the Prophet” for more information about the Companions, their extraordinary sacrifices and their efforts in the way of Islam.

24-) His illiteracy along with a perfect religion and declaration are a proof of Muhammad’s (PBUH) prophethood.

Let us imagine something: An illiterate person intends to develop a global program himself. This illiterate person develops his own project through years without informing anyone and at last, he declares it in his declining years. After his declaration, without any paradoxes or errors, he continues his cause till his death without returning back despite all difficulties and his plan becomes successful as planned beforehand, spreads all over the world. Is this possible?

And let us suppose that his cause is so powerful that it changes radically everything such as nations, tribes, habits, traditions, religions and anything that have deep roots. Such a reform and chance of success by such an illiterate person is impossible.

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), without having any plan or project, declared the cause of Islam to all humanity. While doing this, He did not show any hesitation, fear or dilemma and conquered the hearts of hundreds of thousands of people in an area which is three million square kilometers. He transformed a murderous society that buried their offspring alive into a civilized one in a very short time; fifteen years after his death, his religion spread to three continents and reached millions of people.

Now we are asking; if his claim of prophethood had been a fabricated cause of and if he had started to declare it after years of preparation, would His friends, relatives and wife not have known this? And if he had not told the truth about his great and assertive case, then would the first believers have sacrificed all of their lives and property on this way? The troubles that first Muslims suffered are known by us clearly.

Now let us think; if the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) had not been a prophet (God forbid) and had fabricated the religion of Islam himself (God forbid), then for which reasons would he have made it?

  • To live comfortably? In fact, he had a life full of troubles, gave what he had (properties) to the people and he had pawned something due to his debt before he passed away. So, He cannot have claimed it in order to live well.

  • For Leadership? In fact, all of his life is a proof that he lived among people and proved with his life that actual lordship and leadership is working as manservant. He fought in the first ranks, mended His clothes and worked with his friend when it was time to work. So, the so called claim of leadership is not true. If he had had such a claim, would he have rejected the offers of property and leadership of Meccan polytheists and chosen poverty?

  • Could he not have made a claim like that in order to save people from their horrible condition? God forbid; this claim is not valid. For a pious man who wants to save people in the name of religion cannot tell a lie for the sake of God. If he had told tell a lie, he would not have been a truly pious person and his lie would have sooner or later been heard. His religion is unique. His religion has all qualities of all religions and at the same time, it is original and different from them. It is a perfect religion beyond the capacity of an illiterate person. So, this claim is not valid, either.

So, all of these claims come from Satan and they are the delusions of our nafs (evil commanding soul) Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) is the last and supreme prophet of God. He is a leader for all humanity. As he had no claim before his prophethood, he was given prophethood at the age of forty and continued his cause till the end of his life by enduring all kinds of sufferings.
