How many groups are angels divided into? What are their duties?
Angels are divided into mainly 3 groups:
1. Angels that worship; they are called Illiyyun - Muqarrabun,
2. Angels related to nature; they are called mudabbirat,
3. Angels related to human beings...
* Angels that worship: Muqarrabun:
They are always engaged in mentioning the names of God Almighty, glorifying Him by saying that He is free from all imperfection and blessing Him with all of His perfect attributes. They are overwhelmed by the knowledge, love and worshipping of Allah. (See: an-Nisa 4/172) Angels in charge of carrying out the tasks in Paradise and Hell are in this group. (ar-Ra’d 13/23-24; at-Tahrim 66/6; al-Muddaththir 74/29-31)
* Angels related to nature: Mudabbirat:
They are angles in charge of managing the universe, applying the divine laws that maintain the order in nature. They supervise and observe the manifestations of the will and power of Allah in nature.
* Angels related to human beings:
The most important one of them is Gabriel (pbuh). His duty is to convey the divine revelation to prophets. Therefore, he is also called the angel of revelation. Gabriel is also called ruhu’l-amin (reliable Spirit). (ash-Shuara 26/193-194) In another verse, he is called Ruhu’l-Qudus (Holy Spirit). (an-Nahl 16/102) he is also called Sayyidu’l-malaike (Lord of the Angels).
Another duty of the angels related to man is to strengthen the messengers of Allah and good slaves and to console them when they are in trouble or when they are sad, to elevate their spirituality and to help them actually if it is necessary. The Quran tells us that the angels helped believers actually in the battles of Badr, Uhud and Hunayn that took place in the Era of Bliss.
Another duty of the angels related to man is to inspire people good things and enable them to follow the right path and elevate them spiritually.
Some of those angels have some special duties:
• Angels in charge of inspiring the truth and good things into man’s heart. (Tirmidhi/ Tafsir 3);
• Angels in charge of saying amen at the end of the chapter al-Baqara... (Bukhari, Adhan 111, 112)
• Angels that are together with believers every day during the morning and afternoon prayers. (Bukhari, Mawaqit 16; Muslim Masajid 37)
• Angels that come down to the earth when the Quran is recited. (Bukhari, Fadailu’l-Qur’an 15; Muslim, Musafirun 36).
• Angels that look for places where the names of Allah are mentioned (dhikr), the Quran is recited and useful knowledge is taught (Bukhari, Daawat 66; Muslim, Dhikr 8)...
• Angels that ask for mercy for believers (al-Ahzab 33/43)
• Angels that ask for mercy for scholars (Tirmidhi, Ilm 19)
Recording Angels:
There are two recording angels with each person. They write down and record all kinds of acts, words and behavior of each person, whether they are good or bad. They are called Kiraman Katibin: Honorable Recorders in the Quran. (See Qaf 50/17-18; al-Infitar 82/10-12; az-Zukhruf 43/86)
Munkar - Nakir Angels:
They are the angels that question man after he dies in the grave and asks questions like, “Who is your Lord? What is your religion, Who is your prophet?
Azrael (pbuh):
He is in charge of removing souls from people’s bodies. He is also called the Angel of Death. (as-Sajda 32/11)
Mikail (pbuh):
He is the angel in charge of delivering the sustenance to their owners and arranging natural events like wind and rain in accordance with Allah’s will.
Israfel (pbuh):
He is the angel in charge of blowing Soor (the trumpet) and announcing the time of the Doomsday. After the Doomsday strikes and all living beings die, Israfel will blow the trumpet again and people will come out of their graves and go to the Gathering Place.
• What are the greatest angels?
There are four great angels. They are Gabriel (Jibril), Mikail, Israfel and Azrael. We have mentioned what their duties are above.
2-)
What are the benefits of believing in angels for man’s life?
Belief in angels has positive effects on human psychology. We can list some of them as follows:
1. If a person has a valuable word or work or a talent, he tries to make it eternal in order to prevent it from being forgotten and for its appreciation by writing poems, a book or producing something in other branches of art. That feeling is present in the nature of man.
It is an apparent reality that if a person with such characteristics knows that all of the things and deeds he does and all of his words and tendencies are written by “Kiraman Katibin” and that they record them in order to show them to him and others in the eternal realm, he will be very joyful and peaceful, his spirit will be freshened and his heart will be relieved.
2. The most important possession of man is his spirit. It is definitely the greatest torture and the most terrible pain for man that his spirit, his most valuable possession, will be destroyed and will go to non-existence when he dies.
Man can be relieved from that great pain and terrible anxiety by belief in angels because belief informs him that when he dies, his most valuable possession is entrusted to Azrael (pbuh), an appointed official, and that it never disappears.
3. Only the company of Munkar – Nakir can save man from the loneliness, darkness, cold, imprisonment and hopelessness of the grave that everybody without exception will enter. He talks to them. Thus, his heart and grave expand, get warm, become illuminated and windows open to the realm of spirits.
4. Man is sometimes left alone; he stays away from his beloved people and friends. He may be alone materially or spiritually. If a person cannot find anyone to share his belief and ideas and if he lives in a place where everybody opposes him and is hostile to him, he is regarded to be lonely. That person feels as if the world will collapse down on him amongst all those troubles and loneliness. The consciousness of belief in angels helps him in that situation. It illuminates the universe and the crowded world of that person, enlivens him and it fills his world with angels and spiritual beings. It makes his world joyful. It saves him from loneliness, wildness, destitution, violence and the agony of not being accompanied. It consoles him by saying, “Do not worry if nobody listens to and accepts your positive ideas and beliefs in the society! Angels and spiritual beings will listen to you. They will make you earn the fruit of thawab.”
3-)
Jinn
The word jinn means to cover something lexically. As a term, it means the name of some invisible spiritual beings. Jinn are clever and invisible beings created from air and fire that can take different forms. (Dr. Süleyman Ateş, İslâm’a itirazlar ve Kur’ân-ı Kerîm’den Cevaplar, 34.) It is reported that they are seen in the form of various animals, often as snakes. (M. Vehbi, Hülâsatü’I-Beyân, 15, 6175.)
According to what Raghib al-Isfahani explains in his book, Mufradat, the word jinn is used in the following two meanings:
1) Jinn is the name given to spiritual beings that cannot be perceived by five senses; in this case, it covers angels and satans, too. In this sense, every angel is jinn but every jinn is not angel.
2) Jinn constitute some of spiritual beings, not all of them. Spiritual beings are divided into three:
a) Spiritual beings all of which are good.
b) Spiritual beings all of which are evil. They are satans that lead people to evil.
c) Spiritual beings some of which are good and some evil. They are meant when the word jinn is used.(Raghib al-Isfahani, al-Mufradat, “JINN” item)
Jinn are responsible for belief and worshipping like men. The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) was sent as a prophet to both human beings and jinn. In the Quran, there are verses that start as follows: “O ye assembly of Jinn and men!”(ar-Rahman, 33).
The word THAQALAN means in the verse: “Soon shall We settle your affairs, O both ye worlds”(ar-Rahman,31) two thaqals. One of those thaqals is jinn and the other is men. Thaqal means weight. It is said that they are given that name because Jinn and men apply weight on the earth or because they are loaded with sins. (Dr. Süleyman Ateş, ibid., 36)
There are believers and unbelievers, good ones and bad ones among jinn like among human beings. They will sow what they reap too; the good jinn will go to Paradise and the bad ones will go to Hell.
There is a separate chapter about jinn in the Quran. The following is stated in that chapter: here are believers and unbelievers, good ones and bad ones among jinn; none of them has power against Allah and all of them are weak and responsible; believers who believe in Allah should not be afraid of them; Jinn will not be able to do what they did during the period of ignorance and interregnum because after the advent of Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh), they cannot approach the upper layers of the sky in order to steal information from the sky and tell fortunetellers about them as they used to do because sparks of fires are sent over them; there may be some who want to continue to commit evil deeds but they cannot harm Allah and believers; on the contrary, they will be destroyed and be fuel for Hell; Muslim jinn will try to do good deeds not bad deeds; no one but Allah should be worshipped and prayed to in mosques and other places.
According to what is stated in the Quran, a group of jinn came and listened to the Quran and became Muslims; they went back to their nations and called them to Islam.(al-Jinn. 1 )
A narration from Ibn Abbas gives us the following information about the issue:
“Hazrat Prophet (pbuh) and several people from his Companions were on the way to the fair in Ukaz; in a place called Nahla, while the Prophet lead the morning prayer, a group from jinn came and listened to him. At that time, satans and jinn were unable to receive information from the sky; sparks of fire were sent over them. They talked about it and said, “Probably a new incident took place and a barrier was put between us and the news from the sky. They decided to go to the east and west of the world and searched about it.
When the group that went to the direction of Tihama heard the Quran that Hazrat Prophet recited in the morning prayer, they listened to it carefully and said, “this is what prevents you from receiving news from the sky”; after that, they went to their nation and said, “O people of our nation! We listened to the Quran, which was exemplary and strange and we believed in it. From now on, we will never attribute partners to our Lord.
Thereupon, God Almighty sent the chapter al-Jinn and reported what Jinn had said to the Messenger of Allah.”(M. H. Yazır, ibid VII, 5381 ff)
In addition, the Messenger of Allah recited the Quran to the Jinn several times. The most famous incident is the one reported by Ibn-i Mas’ud.
According to a narration, a group of Jinn went to the Messenger of Allah in order to recite the Quran and convey it to their own people; they learned the Quran and they were appointed by the prophet to teach their own nation.
* * *
Jinn do not know the ghaib (unseen- unknown) but since they live thousands of years and since they are immaterial and spiritual beings and since they eavesdropped the angels in the past and stole information from them, they may know some information about the past and present. It does not show that the jinn are superior to men. It is one of the characteristics of their structure and nature. In hadiths, an old believing jinn who lived during the time of Hazrat Moses and reached the period of our Prophet and believed in him is mentioned.
It was also shown to the jinn themselves that they do not know the ghaib really with Solomon’s (pbuh) death. (Saba’ 34/14).
The probability of being harmed by jinn is not higher than the probability of being harmed by other creatures and poisonous and predatory animals. Therefore, a conscious believer does not have to be afraid of jinn. No being (neither an animal, nor a microbe, nor jinn) can harm man without the permission of Allah. Man is informed about how to take refuge in Allah from harmful creatures. The same attitude should be shown to the jinn too. Our Prophet especially recommended reading the verse ayah al-kursi, and the chapters al-Falaq and an-Nas. (Bukhari, Wakale, 10; Tirmidhi, Tib 16) It is necessary for the believers who think they have been harmed by jinn to be contented with the measures that our Prophet taught and to be protected from being deceived by charlatans that abuse the issue of jinn.
• Some judgments about Jinn:
-No marriage takes place between men and jinn because one of the necessities of marriage is being together. However, it is not possible for men and jinn to be together. There are no common points between them in terms of eating, drinking and housing; so, they cannot be in harmony. Then, since there cannot be harmony and living together, there is no use in their marriage. Therefore, there is no marriage contract between them. If their marriage were deemed legitimate, the women who became pregnant due to fornication would claim that male jinn made them pregnant, causing the spread of mischief in the world. In order to eliminate that mischief, it is necessary that marriage with jinn be illegitimate.
One of the judgments about jinn is that when a person performs prayers with jinn, praying in congregation takes place. If someone performed a prayer by reciting adhan and iqamah while he was alone and swore that he performed the prayer in congregation, his swearing would not be a lie. It is possible that some jinn that were present in that place accompanied him in his prayer since he performed the prayer by reciting adhan and iqamah. (M. Vehbi, 15, 6176)
• Can Jinn be seen through eyes?:
Jinn are fine beings like light. They cannot be held by hand but they can be seen. Although it is reported that Imam Shafii said jinn cannot be seen based on the twenty-first verse of the chapter al-Araf and added, “the witnessing of a person who says, ‘I have seen jinn’ is not accepted”, Damiri, the writer of ‘Hayat-ul Hayawan’, said, “That sentence means jinn cannot be seen with their true nature.” Many companions and other people saw jinn that changed their appearance. (See Qadi Iyad, ash-Shifa, 1/279-280; Aliyyü’1-Kari, ibid, 1/738 ff)
Mentioning the same point, Imam Ghazali said that only prophets could see angels and jinn with their true nature and that other people, especially saintly people, could see them in different forms. (Imam Ghazali, Ihya Ulum ad-Din, 111/53, Egypt, 1387)
4-)
Are angels or men superior?
According to Ahl as-Sunnah belief, prophets chosen among human beings are superior to angels, even the greatest angels because man is elevated with the miracle of being taught names. (al-Baqara 2/31-34)
Besides, the obedience and worshipping of angels are not based on their will. Angels are obedient naturally. No testing or evolution is in question for them. Man believes and worships with his will; he evolves spiritually. The four great angels are superior to all believers except prophets; believers with good deeds and believers with taqwa (fear of Allah), martyrs and siddiqs (loyal believers) are superior to all angels except the four great angels; all angels are superior to unbelievers, hypocrites, polytheists, sinners, immoral people and people without good deeds.
5-)
What kind of beings are angels? and Why cannot we see angels?
•What kind of beings are angels?
Angels are spiritual beings that Allah created out of light and that we cannot see with our eyes.
Angels were created only to do good deeds and to worship Allah. They have no ability to commit evil because Allah did not give them feelings like lust and wrath that lead to evil.
Angels do not eat, drink, sleep, marry or reproduce like us. Gender is not in question for them. They exist everywhere, in the sky, on the earth, etc; they can cover long distances in a very short time and they can appear in any shape or form they like. Allah gave them that power.
Angels are occupied with worshipping, mentioning the name of Allah, glorifying and praising him day and night. (al-Anbiya, 21/19-20) They are like their food. They never rebel or disobey their orders in the slightest degree. They are sinless and obedient. (an-Nahl 16/50; al-Anbiya 21/26-28; at-Tahrim 66/6)
• Why cannot we see angels?
Since angels are spiritual beings created out of light they can never be seen by humans in their original form and real appearance. Our eyes were not created with the ability to perceive angels. However, prophets could see angels in their real appearance because Allah gave them the ability to see angels.
That we cannot see angels in their real form and that we cannot perceive them with 5 senses do not mean that they do not exist. There are many things that our sense organs cannot perceive in the material world. Our ears cannot hear the sounds that are too low or too high. If we could see the light waves that are determined by special devices and especially the x rays and ultraviolet rays, we would know the world in a very different form than we do. How can we deny the existence of numerous events in the endless realms that God Almighty created though we cannot perceive the reality of the things that we see in our own realm?
Thus, that we cannot see something with our eyes cannot be proof for the non-existence of something. There are so many things that cannot be seen by our eyes that we accept their existence with our mind, science, experience and experiment. Angels are among the things that we accept their existence though we cannot see them with our eyes.

Satan’s Ways of Deluding and Penetrating into Man
Satan tries many ways, intrigues and tricks in order to deceive man. The most important ones of those intrigues and tricks are as follows;
1. Lust and wrath... They are the biggest ways of entry for Satan.
That is why, the following is stated in a hadith:
“Satan penetrates into man’s body and circulates in it like the blood circulates in the body. Narrow down his ways through hunger (fasting).”(Ihya, III, 61.).
The biggest way of Satan’s entry into man’s body is lust. Hunger alleviates lust.
2. Jealousy and ambition...When a slave becomes ambitious about something, he no longer sees the justice and hears the truth.
3. Greed... Satan makes man love something through various forms of hypocrisy and tricks. He makes man greedy. What man is greedy about becomes kind of his god.
4. Haste...When one is in a hurry, he cannot have time to think. Satan can delude him at that moment.
5. Fear of meanness and poverty... That fear prevents man from generosity and calls him to accumulate wealth.
Sufyan Thawri said: “The strongest weapon of Satan to entrap man is the fear of poverty.
6. One of the doors that Satan penetrates into the heart is the fanaticism of sect and denomination. Thus, Satan leads man to develop a grudge against those who are not in his sect or denomination and to despise them. It is a very dangerous state. It leads both sinners and worshipping believers to destruction.
It is a bad characteristic to despise people and seek their mistakes. However, Satan makes man like those bad characteristics by showing them as good ones under the cover of serving religion. Man thinks he does something good by doing so and feels happy and joyful. As a matter of fact, he is entrapped by Satan.
7. Another way that Satan deceives people is to make people involved with the differences of opinion and sect among people, rumors about them and unnecessary things.
Ibn Mas’ud narrates:
“A group of people gathered together in order to mention the names of Allah. Satan tried hard to break them up but failed. Then, he went over another group that was talking about worldly affairs. He brought about trouble among them and made them fight. What Satan aimed was not to break them up but the group that was mentioning the names of Allah. He managed to do it. Those people saw the fight and ran towards them to break up the fight; then they did not go back to their group and dispersed... Thus, what Satan wanted took place.”
8. Another way that Satan penetrates into the heart is to lead some people whose minds narrowed because of their ignorance and heedlessness and because they indulged in sins to think about matters about belief that they cannot comprehend and to make them doubt about religious matters.
9. Suspecting others... Satan leads a person who starts to think bad things about others to backbite them, or makes him not heed his rights. He makes him insult and despise them.
First and foremost, it is necessary to avoid states that will make others suspect you and think of bad things about you in order to stop that delusion of Satan. Then, it is necessary to try to think of good things about others and avoid suspecting them.
The ones mentioned above are not Satan’s all tricks, delusions and ways of penetrating into man. They differ a lot depending on people, ages and conditions.
7-)
Jinn and Satans
Jinn and satans are spiritual beings created from pure fire, that is, the flame of smokeless fire. Man was created from clay. (ar-Rahman 55/15; al-Hijr 15/26-27)
Jinn are invisible, secret beings like angels that can take the forms of various things and that have the power to manage to do difficult tasks, but they are different from angels in terms of species and nature.
There exists marriage among jinn like men. They are also responsible for belief in and worshipping Allah. Some of them are rebellious unbelievers and others are obedient believers.
However, all of the satans are rebellious and unbelievers. They are occupied with committing evil and deviating men from the right path. There are no believing and obedient satans.
Jinn can never do good or bad things to anybody without the permission of Allah. Jinn do not know the ghaib; they cannot perceive the divine revelation and secrets that Allah informs His prophets.
Jinn were appointed to rule and manage the world before men but they were dismissed of that position because they committed many evils and caused mischief in the world. Men were appointed in lieu of them and given the position of managing the earth.
Our Prophet was sent as a messenger to both men and jinn; he carried out the task of conveying among jinn, too. That issue is clearly stated in the chapter al-Jinn, which consists of 28 verses, in the Quran.
• There exists a sign in the Quran that jinn are forced to work under the command of Sulayman (pbuh). It is understood that jinn can teleport things from one place to another. (an-Naml 27/39)
8-)
Based on what do we believe in the existence of angels?
All of the heavenly religions, primarily Islam, informed us about the existence of angels; prophets saw them in their real forms and received revelation from them. The Quran and the other holy books mention the existence of angels. They give definite proof like seeing with eyes that angels exist.
It is great ignorance and denial not to believe in the existence of angels because one cannot see them with his eyes though the Quran and prophets agree unanimously on the existence of them. It is out of question for a person who believes in Allah not to believe in the existence of angels.
• Angels appeared to men in disguise in various forms with the order and permission of Allah. Gabriel (Jibril) appeared to the Prophet in the form of Dihya (one of the Companions); sometimes, he appeared as a stranger that nobody knew. (Bukhari, Iman 37; Muslim, Iman 1; Abu Dawud, Sunnah 15) It is stated in the Quran that Gabriel appeared to Maryam (Mary) in the form of a human being. (Maryam 19/16-17) It is also stated in the Quran that a group of angels went to Hazrat Ibrahim (Abraham) to give him the good news of having a son and inform him about the destruction of the tribe of Lot. (Hud, 11/69-70). That verse shows that angels do not eat or drink like human beings.
9-)
Reading Text: How did the companions see Gabriel?
Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates:
One day when we were with Allah’s messenger, a man with very white clothing and very black hair came to us. No mark of travel was visible on him, and none of us recognized him. Sitting down before the Prophet, leaning his knees against his, and placing his hands on his thighs, the stranger said, “Tell me, Muhammad, about submission (Islam).”
The Prophet replied, “Submission means that you should bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is Allah’s messenger, that you should perform the ritual prayer, pay the alms tax, fast during Ramadan, and make the pilgrimage to the Ka’aba if you are able to go there.”
The man said, “You have spoken the truth.” (We were amazed at this man’s questioning the Prophet and then declaring that he had spoken the truth).
The stranger spoke a second time, saying, “Now tell me about faith (iman).”
The Prophet replied, “Faith means that you have faith in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers and the Last Day, and that you have faith in the measuring out, both its good and its evil.”
Remarking that the Prophet again had spoken the truth, the stranger then said, “Now tell me about virtue [ihsan > (that is, about doing what is beautiful).”
The Prophet replied, “Virtue—doing what is beautiful—means that you should worship Allah as if you see Him, for even if you do not see Him, He sees you.”
Yet again the man said, “Tell me about the Hour (that is, the coming of the Day of Judgment).”
The Prophet replied, “About that he who is questioned knows no more than the questioner.” However, it has some signs.
The stranger said, “Then, tell me about its signs.”
The Prophet told him about some signs of the Day of Judgment.
Then, the stranger went away. The Prophet called to his Companions, “Bring him back.” The companions ran to find the man but it was impossible to find him. Thereupon the Prophet said:
“He was Gabriel. He came to teach you your religion.”
(Bukhari)
10-)
Can Angels and Satans direct the actions of men?
Man consists of matter and spirit in terms of creation. His material aspect consists of his body, which is his physical appearance, and its natural needs; his spiritual aspect consists of his spirit, whose true nature cannot be known, and his mind. Allah has given man two kinds of feelings as a result of that nature.
The first one is lofty feelings related to man’s spiritual aspects; they lead man to spiritual and lofty life.
The second one is mean feelings related to man’s material and physical aspect. If man submits to those feelings unconditionally, his spiritual aspect weakens, becomes kind of materialized and mean.
Two kinds of creatures were created in the universe corresponding to those two kinds of feeling in man: angels and satans.
Angels arouse lofty feelings in man and inspire him to do good deeds. Satans arouse the mean feelings in man and want to lead him to evil deeds.
The issue is stated s follows in a hadith:
“Human heart is exposed to pressure and inspiration from two aspects. One of them is from the angel; it expresses good things and approves the truth. Whoever has it in his heart should know that it is from Allah and should thank Allah.
The other inspiration is from the satan; it arouses bad deeds, denies the truth and tries to prevent man from doing good deeds. Whoever has it in his heart should take refuge in Allah from the evil of the satan.”
Then, anybody who wants to be elevated spiritually and who wants to develop spiritually should silence the mean and bad feelings that Satan arouses in him and should strive against Satan.
11-)
Is it possible to be saved from the delusions and evil of Satan?
There is no freedom from Satan for man. Satan bothers him throughout his life and tries to delude him.
The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said the following regarding the issue:
“There is a satan for each one of you.”
Although there is no way of freedom from Satan for a believer, there are ways of keeping him away and weaken him. The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said:
“Just as a man weakens his camel during a journey, so too can a believer weaken Satan.” (Ahmed bin Hanbal, Musnad, Abu Hurayra)
The delusion of Satan can be eliminated by mentioning the names of Allah and asking His help. While interpreting the verse ‘Min sharri’l-waswasi’l-khannas’: ‘From the mischief of the Whisperer (of Evil), who withdraws (after his whisper)’, Mujahid says, “The whisper spreads over the heart. When the believer mentions the name of Allah, the whisper escapes; when the heart becomes careless and negligent, it starts to be active again. They keep fighting like the clash of darkness and light. When the light comes, the darkness disappears; similarly, mentioning the name of Allah drives Satan away. The following is stated in the Quran indicating that secret: “The Evil One has got the better of them: So he has made them lose the remembrance of Allah.” (al-Mujadila, 19)
12-)
What is the reason why belief in angels is among the pillars of belief?
Belief in angels has an important place among the pillars of belief because angels are messengers that convey the divine message to prophets. Therefore believing in revelation and prophets necessitates believing in angels that convey the revelation and prophethood first. Not believing in angels will bring about not believing in prophets.
That is why belief in angels is mentioned immediately after belief in Allah.
13-)
Satans (Devils)
They are a type of spiritual beings that can never do good deeds but always commit evil deeds. Iblis, the chief Satan, was created from nar as-samum, that is, intense and smokeless fire. (See: al-Hijr, 27; M.Vehbi, Hülâsatü’l-Beyân, VII/2742-2743) The real name of Iblis was Azazil. He was given the names ‘Iblis’ and ‘Satan’ after he rejected to prostrate to Adam (pbuh) and disobeyed God Almighty due to his pride.
All of the activities of Satans are involved with making people unbelievers and getting them to commit sins. The greatest barrier to the spiritual advancement and worshipping of human beings is Satan. Satan is defined as ‘aduww mubin: avowed enemy’ in the Quran. (al-Isra, 53; al-A’raf, 22; Yusuf, 5) It is necessary for believers to take refuge in Allah from his evil. As a matter of fact, God Almighty calls believers to seek refuge with Allah from Satan in several verses in the Quran. (an-Nahl, 98; al-Mu’minun, 97; al-A’raf, 200)
Indeed, the cunning of Satan is feeble. (an-Nisa, 76) However, he causes great effects with a small delusion and brings about terrible harms since what he does is in the form of destruction and demolition. It is very difficult to construct a building but it is very easy to demolish it. Many conditions need to be together for a man to live. However, if only one of his organs is amputated or if he cannot breathe for a few minutes, he dies. What Satan does and makes people do are all destructive things. Muslims always take refuge with Allah although the delusions of Satan are actually feeble but cause great destruction and damage.
Since man’s soul and his feelings like lust and wrath are open to the inspirations and delusions of Satan, sometimes a slight delusion and intrigue of Satan affects man quickly and leads him to great spiritual troubles and loss.
Therefore, the evil of Satan is shown to be great to believers and they are warned again and again so that they will not be deceived by Satan.
In fact, satans have no power in terms of creation and action and intervention in the property of Allah.
